Chiropractic care for headaches?

Every year in the US, 18 million office visits were made because of headaches. Not only are headaches the most common reason that people use over the counter medications, but it is estimated that 125 million workdays are lost each year because of headaches!

A study done by Boline P., et al., in 1995 that looked at the effects of chiropractic treatment compared to amitriptyline (which is a common medication used to control headaches). The study lasted a total of six weeks and at the end, the participants reported their daily headache intensity, weekly headache frequency, functional health status, and over the counter medication usage. Bythe end of the study both groups showed signs of improvement, although the group that received the chiropractic treatment had an overall reduction of all symptoms and over the counter medication usage while the group that used amitriptyline showed little improvement in symptoms overall based on the baseline measures.

This study shows that chiropractic treatment is a safe, natural way to correct the root cause of these headaches, rather than just treating the symptoms of the headaches with over the counter medication that may lead to long term side effects.
